Melissa is a Registered Counsellor and Clinical Member with the Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC).

She graduated with a Bachelor in Social Sciences (Psychology) Honours from the National University of Singapore, and a Master in Counselling from Monash University. She spent the first 9 years of her journey as a therapist in psychiatric rehabilitation and community mental health settings before entering private practice.

Over the years, Melissa has worked with clients struggling with complex traumatic stress, PTSD, depression, anxiety, psychoses, personality disturbances, who presented with a range of concerns including work stress and burnout, trauma, interpersonal relationship difficulties, grief and loss and difficulties adapting to transitions in life. She provides therapy in both English and Mandarin.

As an individual and couples therapist, Melissa’s therapeutic approach is mainly trauma and attachment focused, relational and integrative. She has been trained in EMDR, Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 3), EFCT (Emotionally-focused Couples therapy), Meaning Reconstruction in Grief therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and also incorporate psychodynamic, emotion-focused and somatic approaches in her work.

Melissa is also an advocate for good mental health and destigmatizing therapy. In the past, she has given talks to organizations on topics like: Understanding Depression, Emotional Regulation, Emotional Resilience, Youth Mental Health and Suicide, Adjusting to WFH during COVID.
